GRAPHIC DESIGN
A Dinner with Myself is a personal exploration of self-discovery and design, blending emotion and storytelling to reflect my journey as a designer. The project draws inspiration from my experiences, my growth in design, and the emotional process that shapes the stories I create. Through minimalism and powerful visuals, this project encapsulates the essence of who I am —transforming personal reflections into a tangible, visual narrative.
This project is a culmination of my academic studies and creative evolution. As I reflect on my path, "A Dinner with Myself" invites viewers where vulnerability meets strength and where design becomes a medium to understand and connect with deeper emotions. The work bridges the gap between my identity as a designer and the stories that define me, offering a fresh perspective on the power of design to tell meaningful, emotional stories.
The book is structured like a symbolic meal, divided
into four chapters:
The Starter – Reflects childhood memories and
early identity struggles.
The Main Finding – A moment of deep self-confrontation
and emotional clarity.
The Side Dishes – External influences: mentors,
relationships, and how others shaped my sense of self.
The Dessert – Closure and lightness, where I begin to embrace myself fully, not just as a person, but as a designer.
The final chapter marks the birth of my design language.
It’s where personal reflection transforms into creative clarity — defining my values, direction, and the emotional storytelling
that grounds my work.
Materiality & Production
This book was designed to be felt, not just read. It’s printed on 120 gsm textured matte paper for a soft, tactile experience. The 19 x 22 cm format sits quietly in the hands, like a personal object.
A strong hardcover protects its delicate perfect binding, echoing the tension between resilience and fragility, just like the story inside. A subtle letterpress title on the cover adds texture and presence, grounding the project with quiet weight.
I photographed the book in a minimal studio setup, using soft lighting and neutral tones to reflect its emotional stillness and material sensitivity.
Reflection
A Dinner With Myself was more than a design project — it was a moment of creative rebirth. For the first time, I didn’t design to please. I designed to understand, to accept, and to transform.Through this book, I found my voice as a designer — one rooted in emotional clarity, honesty, and storytelling. It helped me define not only my visual language but also my values: empathy, precision, and emotional depth.
The response was deeply personal. Viewers didn’t just “see” the book — they felt it. And that told me I was heading in the right direction.
